Wednesday. Tim is doing very well. His doctor, who has been his pulmonologist for 25 years, is determined to be "aggressive, although I don't want to exhaust you." He left orders for Tim to get up and in his chair, weaning from the respirator (using it only for support) for 8 hours today.
And he did it! In two shifts: one of two hours, from 10:30-12:30, and the other from 3:00PM to 9:00.
He seems strong and like he's getting his health back. He's got good nurses, and they're interested in him and his work. (We've kept a pile of Access Presses in the room to remind people that he's not a professional patient, but a professional journalist.)
I washed his hair, and except for that beard--and that gown--, you'd just never know he was ailing.
