Dr. Pulmonologist called me this morning with the news that he's disappointed--and so is Tim. And now so am I.
Tim's temperature spiked up last night, enough that the Dr. wants to back off weaning for today and take things more slowly.
However, he is ordering the ventilator to be replaced tonight with one that can be used at home, so that we've tested it before going home with one. That's a good thing.
Still, he said, Tim won't be going home this weekend, and we need to get the results of another round of blood and sputum cultures (and, ahem, other samples) to rule out additional infections.
Dr. Pulmonologist has been there almost every day with Tim since this started, but now will go out on vacation for a week.
Let's hope that Tim's resting at home before Dr. P. comes back. Meanwhile, I'm going to remind Tim and me that we're way better today than a week ago (the day THE BED saga began).
