Thursday. After a good night, Tim woke up this morning with a lot of difficulty breathing, especially after his pulmonary (mucomist) treatment. The morning chest x-ray showed that two lobes of his lungs (upper right and lower left) had partially collapsed (i.e., he again had atelectasis: plugged bronchia), and he had to have another procedure, a bronchoscopy.
By chance, I came in just as all of this was being determined at lunchtime. I got to be with him through it all, and to see that he was much better when it was over.
He said that he was having a really hard time getting any breath in the morning. He was very happy to be breathing well again.
His doctor is very frustrated. At the end of the day, he returns and he has a new therapy he wants to initiate. More tomorrow.
